Aiming to become a foundry company loved by customers

United Semiconductor Japan Co., Ltd. (USJC) got off to a new start on October 1st, 2019, as a member of United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC), leading global semiconductor foundry.

The former company, Mie Fujitsu Semiconductor Limited (MIFS) has provided high-quality technologies and services to customers worldwide as 300㎜ wafer foundry joint venture between Fujitsu Semiconductor Limited (FSL) and UMC.
Its manufacturing base, Mie Plant has contributed to the growth of the semiconductor industry in Japan through the development and mass production of advanced memory and logic devices.

USJC offers a platform that realize low power consumptions with embedded non-volatile memory options. We are also working on supporting RF options, in particular millimeter wave technology which are suitable for automotive and IoT market. Our strength are stringent production management system, highly experienced engineers, continuing production improvement activities, and superior risk-response capabilities such as hybrid seismic isolation structures and LNG bases.

USJC will contribute to improve the market competitiveness of our customers' products by dramatically enhancing their performance and realizing IoT society as a Japan-based semiconductor wafer fabrication.

    S F Tzou is chairman of United Semiconductor Japan Co., Ltd. (USJC), and also serves as associate vice president of UMC's Technology Development organization. Chairman Tzou graduated in 1987 from National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan with a Master degree in Materials Science and Engineering. He joined UMC in 1989 and spent more than 32 years in multiple positions to lead the company's production management and technology development. He has led multiple R&D projects including 90㎚, 65㎚, 45/40㎚, 28㎚/HKMG, 14㎚ FinFET & Memory process development. Prior to his current position, Chairman Tzou was vice president of Manufacturing Technology Division.

    President

    Nobuhiro Misawa serves as President of United Semiconductor Japan Co., Ltd (USJC) since April, 2024. In 1988, he joined Fujitsu Limited as a process engineer. After many years of experience in porting technology and process integration businesses, Mr. Misawa was appointed to several important positions of process development division of Mie Fujitsu Semiconductor Limited (MIFS). Mr. Misawa has also been in charge of Mie Plant Manager since 2022 to present.
